| Cundo's Gallery Antique fotos and objects from Catemaco, Veracruz |
| Hidden in the outskirts of the center of Catemaco, sits a small treasure that is a must visit for local habitants and any visitor with an interest in history. The museum was opened in February by Cundo Pereyra Cadena, a local antique collector and history buff. Its fortè is hundreds of historical Photos and documents, mostly dating from the early and mid 1900's. Also of interest are pre-modern kitchen utensils, tools and a few archaeological finds. The grounds of the museum which are still being constructed feature historic items, such as a hand carved canoe, a fish net from the days before Nylon, an intriguing reconstruction of the historic facade of local houses and mural art by a local painter. The museum is a unique addition to Catemaco, which although endowed by a few thousand years of history, up to this point has only been able to display a few antique stone carvings from the Teotihuacan period used as bike stops and benches in front of the municipal palace. |
