| What's new in Balzapote? San Andrés Tuxtla, April 2010 |
| Balzapote is still my favorite beach in Los Tuxtlas. I visit the port several times each year, and every time I find new places to discover. Unfortunately (or maybe good for me), my opinion is not shared with others, and usually the beaches are mostly deserted, because Balzapote still has no tourist accommodations or restaurants throughout the year. The only significant improvement in the last year was the modernization of the port's central street and the installation of some sidewalks. There is also now bus service twice a day available from San Andres Tuxtla. (2 1 / 2 hour). Swimming anywhere on a beach in Los Tuxtlas is not recommended for those who can not swim. No lifeguards are present and rip tides are common. The best place to swim in Balzapote is the port that has little wave action, but then a sharp fall from the pier. Also good for diving and snorkeling. |
