To borrow photos from habitants of Catemaco to publish on the internet is like pulling teeth from an extinguished Olmec indian. Today the owner of Don Pedro, Catemaco's best known and stocked liquor store for the last 40 years, allowed me to scan 5 photos from his collection. By now I have almost 100 antique photos of Catemaco, almost all of which I stole from hotel lobbies, medical offices, published books, and some from "Cundo" who supposedly has the largest extant collection in Catemaco. Meanwhile a multitude of Catemaco habitants have promised photos, but have never delivered them for scanning. A slideshow of historical photos of Catemaco is below these photos. Judge for yourself if this unique collection deserves to be enhanced by local contributions. |
